WHAT IS WASTE?

TOYOTA, the originator of JIT concept,defines waste as- "anything
other than the minimum amount of equipment, material,parts, and
working time absolutely essential to production."

Americans define waste as-"anything other than the absolute minimum
resources of industrial machines,manpower requirement to add value
to the product."

So, What is waste?

"Any thing we make that costs something, without adding value to the
product."

Type of Waste - (Non-value -Adding Activity):
TIMWOOD:
*Transportation
 * Inventories
*Motions
*.Waiting (Delays ,Queing, Searching)
.
*Overproduction.

*Overprocess (Unnecessary Processing including inspection).

*Defects.(Raw material,Process, Spoilage )

.Which is the greatest of all waste? why?
